Glory forever! “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.” – Romans 12:10
This Week in the Life of the Church
Icon provided for the weekly commemoration
This week the Church commemorates Saint Paisios of the Holy Mountain, one of the most recently canonized Orthodox saints. After serving in the Greek Army, he embraced the monastic life on Mount Athos, where he devoted himself to prayer, repentance, and humble service. Although he sought a quiet life, many were drawn to him for his discernment, compassion, and unwavering trust in God’s providence.
He encouraged Christians to grow in humility, prayer, and love for their neighbor. His life reminds us that holiness is cultivated by faithfully following Christ through repentance, trust in God, and care for those around us.
Join us as we begin the Lord’s Day in prayer through the service of Great Vespers. The saints commemorated on July 18 include the Holy Martyr Emilian of Dorostolum and Venerable Pambo, whose lives call us to courage, repentance, and humility.
Join us for Great Vespers as the Church commemorates the Dormition of the Righteous Anna, Mother of the Most Holy Theotokos. Following Vespers, everyone is invited to remain for a BBQ and Ice Cream Potluck at Living Faith Global Methodist Church.
Join us for Reader Great Vespers on the first day of the Dormition Fast. On August 1 the Church commemorates the Procession of the Honorable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord and the Holy Maccabean Martyrs. We will begin this fasting season by gathering before the Cross in prayer, repentance, and hope.
Join us as we celebrate the Divine Liturgy during the Afterfeast of the Transfiguration of our Lord. On this day the Church also commemorates the Holy Confessor Emilian, Bishop of Kyzikos, whose endurance under the iconoclast persecution reminds us to confess Christ faithfully and to honor the holy icons as witnesses to the Incarnation.
Following Divine Liturgy, everyone is invited to share a potluck meal together. Please use the sign-up link to help coordinate food for the table.

Living the Orthodox Faith
Stand Firm in Christ. Great Martyr Marina, commemorated July 17, remained faithful to Christ even when those around her opposed her confession. Her life reminds us that Christian courage is not harshness or pride; it is a quiet willingness to belong to Christ in every circumstance.
A practice for this week: Begin each morning by making the sign of the Cross and asking Christ to strengthen you to remain faithful throughout the day. When fear, embarrassment, anger, or pressure arises, pause and pray the Jesus Prayer before speaking or acting: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Then choose the response that is truthful, peaceful, and consistent with the Gospel.
